10. Google User Data

Draftl integrates with Google services through the Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Calendar APIs. When you choose to connect your Google account, we request access only to the data needed to provide the features described below. This section explains what Google user data we access, how we use it, how we protect it, and how you can revoke our access.

10.1 What Google User Data We Access

  • Google Docs: The contents of documents you explicitly choose to import into Draftl or export from Draftl, so you can bring essays and drafts into the editor and send them back to Google Docs
  • Google Sheets: The contents of spreadsheets you explicitly choose to connect, so you can import or export data such as college lists and application tracking information
  • Google Calendar: Your calendar events and availability, so you can schedule and manage meetings with advisors from within Draftl
  • Basic profile information: Your name, email address, and profile picture when you sign in with Google

10.2 How We Use Google User Data

We access this Google user data in its raw form only to perform the actions you request. We do not create aggregated or anonymized data sets from your Google user data for any purpose other than internal operations such as limited security, abuse prevention, and service reliability.

We use Google user data solely to provide and improve the user-facing features you request: importing and exporting documents and spreadsheets, and scheduling calendar events. We do not use Google user data for any other purpose.

10.3 How We Share Google User Data

We do not sell, transfer, or disclose Google user data — whether raw or aggregated and anonymized — to third parties except as necessary to provide or improve the features described above, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger or acquisition with prior notice to you. We do not share Google user data with data brokers, advertisers, or information resellers.

10.4 Limited Use Disclosure

Draftl's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. In particular, we do not:

  • Use Google user data for serving advertisements, including retargeting, personalized, or interest-based advertising
  • Sell Google user data to data brokers or information resellers
  • Use Google user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes
  • Use or transfer Google user data to train, develop, or improve generalized or non-personalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models
  • Allow humans to read Google user data unless we have your explicit consent, it is necessary for security purposes or to comply with applicable law, or the data has been aggregated and anonymized for internal operations

10.5 AI and Machine Learning

Draftl uses artificial intelligence and machine learning models to power its essay-writing features. Our use of raw or derived user data received from Google Workspace APIs (Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Calendar) adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

  • We do not use Google Workspace user data to develop, improve, or train generalized or non-personalized AI/ML models. Google Workspace data is only ever used to generate output for the individual user who requested it.
  • We do not transfer Google Workspace user data to any third-party AI/ML service that uses that data to train or improve its own models. Where Google Workspace content is processed by third-party model providers to fulfill a feature you request, that processing is performed under agreements that prohibit the provider from using the data to train its models.

10.6 How We Protect Google User Data

Google user data is encrypted in transit using TLS and at rest. OAuth access tokens are stored securely, access is restricted to the systems required to provide the features described above, and we never store your Google password.

10.7 Retention and Deletion of Google User Data

We retain Google user data only for as long as needed to provide the features described above. You can revoke Draftl's access to your Google account at any time by disconnecting the integration in your account settings or through your Google Account security settings. When you disconnect your Google account or delete your Draftl account, we delete stored Google user data and associated tokens. You may also request deletion of your Google user data at any time by contacting us at support@draftl.com.

11. Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information, please contact us.

12. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
